- Assistance in General Rail Car Repair Operations
- Regular Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Support in Handling of Materials During Repairs
- Operation of Certain Shop Equipment and Mechanical Hand Tools
- Limited Welding Under Close Supervision
- Routine Maintenance Work
- Development of Basic Skills in Car Repair Through On-the-Job Experience
- Assistance in Car Rail Shop Maintenance
Common Duties in Car Repairs
- Basic Cutting and Welding
- Uncoupling Lever Removal and Replacing
- Coupler Removal and Dismantling
- Brake Levers Removal and Replacing
- Car Jacking
- Supervised Truck Repair
- AEI Tags Removal and Updating
- Certifying Rail Car Welding Positions (1G Flat and 2G Horizontal)
Experience Requirements
- Reading Ability
- Basic Mathematical Skills
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Human Relations Skills
